This is the best photograph I’ve ever taken (and may ever get a chance to take) while snorkeling and scuba diving during a yacht charter vacation:
Raja Ampat, Indonesia
I snagged that picture with my wrist-mounted GoPro camera while snorkeling at the surface above a coral reef during a charter in Raja Ampat, Indonesia. Look at the sheer quantity of fish, not only above the coral (which stretched on like a football field) but also off to the right of the reef, in the distance. There are far too many fish to even try to count, an absolutely stunning underwater scene.
Few yachts charter in Raja Ampat—which is one reason why the place remains so pristine underwater—but Australian Superyachts says the 115-foot Horizon motoryacht Paradise is headed there for the upcoming season. The owner is offering charter dates in Raja Ampat as well as in Papua New Guinea from August through October.
Paradise is a 2014 build with a weekly base rate of $125,000 for 10 guests.
Any reputable charter broker can tell you more about Paradise or help you book a scuba-themed charter in Papua New Guinea or Raja Ampat, Indonesia. (And remember to bring your underwater camera!)
