The Newport Charter Yacht Show was held in late June, and its annual chefs’ competition focused on desserts. Here’s a look at the winners, all of whom are aboard yachts available for bookings in New England this summer.
First prize went to Chef Carolina Velandia of the 198-foot Feadship motoryacht Blue Moon. She cooked a picante São Tomé chocolate tofu mousse that was lactose- and gluten-free, served with passionfruit curd and a Moscato jelly cubes.
Second prize went to Chef Terry Gatewood of the 123-foot Palmer Johnson motoryacht Temptation. He prepared a lemon blueberry posset.
Third prize went to Chef Gaylinn Fast of the 120-foot Feadship motoryacht Lady Victoria. She created a dish inspired by Maine’s Acadian woodland trails that looked like a terrarium and included a yogurt panna cotta base, chocolate biscotti “dirt,” green snickerdoodle “moss” and merengue “mushrooms.”
All of these charter yachts and more are available for bookings this summer in New England. Any reputable charter broker can help you book a week on board.
