Spring begins Yacht Inspections

Charter shows are different from a yacht brokerage show as we are looking for amenities and crew with a ‘can do’ attitude

For many clients the warmer breezes of April means relief from cold weather. For the charter brokers at Regency and Northrop and Johnson, it means it is time to hit the docks for yacht inspections.

This week is the new small charter yacht show in St. Thomas with yachts like the luxury motor yacht Charisma and the sailing Irwin Three Moons available for inspection. We always take any opportunity to view yachts as often as possible so that we know their condition and the mental state of the crew who are critical to the success of a charter.

Charter shows are different from a yacht brokerage show as we are looking for amenities and crew with a ‘can do’ attitude as well as layout and water sports toys on board. For a yacht brokerage show the emphasis is more on condition and structure as surface items can always be altered.

May brings several shows – Genoa, Italy and Poros Greece as well as Turkey and later in the month the BVI. Know that all that dock walking is more than just a chance to get some exercise for our brokers – it’s a chance to see first hand what clients will be spending their hard earned money on in the coming season. We’re there to spot the best values!
