Here at CharterWave headquarters outside of New York City, the leaves on the trees are just starting to change into autumn’s yellows, oranges and reds. On the Chesapeake Bay, perfect timing for leaf-peeping vacations will be during the next few weeks, and the 108-foot Alloy sailing yacht Marae is offering a 20-percent discount on her rates in the area for anyone who wants to enjoy the fall foliage.
The regular weekly base rate to charter Marae is $54,000. With the discount, it’s $43,200. It’s an even better deal than the owner offered for these autumn dates back in August.
Marae is a 2004 build that accommodates six guests in three staterooms. One has a queen bed, one has a double and the third has twins, making the yacht great for family charters. Four crew are on board.
I toured Marae in spring 2013, and I had lunch aboard with chef Sue Ficken this past December. The yacht is in stunning condition, and the food is quite good. Marae is a classic sailing yacht through and through, with rich woodwork and traditional charm. She has enjoyed excellent upkeep and to my eye looked outstanding nearly a full decade after launching.
Any reputable charter broker can tell you more about Marae or help you book a week on board in the Chesapeake Bay in time to see the leaves change along the coastline.
