Edmiston sends word that the 164-foot classic motoryacht Malahne will be transiting from Greece’s Ionian Islands to the South of France during the first half of September, with last-minute charter bookings available along the way.
Malahne is a true classic, originally launched in 1937. She was built for William Lawrence Stephenson, who helped found F.W. Woolworth & Co. in Britain. He was an avid yachtsman who also commissioned the build of Velsheda, a J-Class sailing yacht that launched in 1933 and raced against iconic yachts of that era including Shamrock V, Britannia and Endeavour. Malahne later was owned by Hollywood film producer Sam Spiegel, who was involved in On the Waterfront, The Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence of Arabia. Spiegel regularly entertained celebrities on board, including Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly.
The current owner of Malahne completed a 30-month restoration at the renowned Pendennis facility in 2015. The shipyard’s craftsmen brought the classic motoryacht back to her original Art Deco styling by working with Savile Row interior design firm Oliver Laws.
Malahne charters at a lowest weekly base rate of €135,000 for 10 guests in five staterooms.
Any reputable charter broker can tell you more about Malahne or help you book the last remaining weeks on board this season as she makes her way from Greece to the South of France.
