Enjoy a traditional “Jump Up” Party complete with barbecue, Caribbean steel drum bands, and rum punch.
“Jump Up” time is every Sunday afternoon at Shirley Heights on the southern end of Antigua, starting around 4:00pm. Enjoy local barbecue, and rum punch, while dancing to the Caribbean steel bands, as the sun sets over English and Falmouth Harbor at historic Shirley Heights named after General Shirley, Governor of several islands including Antigua in the late 1700’s. As a natural strategic highland, General Shirley had fortifications built on this site overlooking both English and Falmouth Harbor. Remnants of these fortifications are still there, including gun fortifications and old military buildings, used today as a serving location for “Jump Up” rum punch.
Don’t miss a true Caribbean “Jump Up” if in Antigua on Sundays, on your next Caribbean Yacht Charter, along with a great view surrounded by historic military fortifications.
