When the 164-foot, Camper & Nicholsons-built Malahne joined the Edmiston and Company charter fleet in spring 2015, the photos alone had me psyched. Now comes word that she has charter dates open starting August 13 in the Mediterranean. Even more reason to celebrate, right?
Malahne is a truly classic stunner, originally launched in 1937. She was built for William Lawrence Stephenson, who helped found F.W. Woolworth & Co. in Britain. He was an avid yachtsman who also commissioned the build of Velsheda, a J-Class sailing yacht that launched in 1933 and raced against iconic yachts of that era including Shamrock V, Britannia and Endeavour.
Malahne later was owned by Hollywood film producer Sam Spiegel, who was involved in On the Waterfront, The Bridge on the River Kwai and Lawrence of Arabia. Spiegel regularly entertained celebrities on board, including Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly.
The current owner of Malahne did a 30-month restoration at the renowned Pendennis facility, which brought the classic motoryacht back to her original Art Deco styling by working with Savile Row interior design firm Oliver Laws. The yacht came into charter just after that refit was completed, and the work has received many rave reviews between last summer and the current summer season.
The available charter dates starting August 13 can be booked with itineraries in the East or West Mediterranean. The high-season weekly base rate for 10 guests is €154,000.
Any reputable charter broker can tell you more about Malahne or help you book a week on board.
