Aqua Expeditions, which has earned a following in the past few years for offering upscale river-cruising experiences in exotic destinations, has announced a $28 million cash injection and plans for new boats as well as new itineraries.
The company started with a 130-foot river expedition boat called Aqua, in the Amazon. In early 2014, plans were announced for a second charter program aboard a second boat, Aqua Mekong, in Southeast Asia.
Now comes word that the program is about to expand again, though details, right now, are being kept mum.
“I am thrilled that after a decade of changing the face of river cruising on both the the Amazon and Mekong Rivers we will extend our footprint to coastal cruising in additional soft adventure destinations,” Galli Zugaro, the company’s founder, stated in a press release. “And it is a tribute to the confidence in our brand shown by our guests and travel agency partners that we are able to make this significant move.”
The keywords that pop out to me in that quote are “coastal cruising” and “soft adventure destinations.”
