Business is Booming. The 142-foot Palmer Johnson motoryacht Lady J (whose chef took first prize in the cooking competition for the yacht’s size range) is already sold out through mid-May 2016. New Year’s 2017 is also booked.
One Sexy Tender. The 163-foot Feadship motoryacht Broadwater has a 37-foot Intrepid tender with a pair of 627-horsepower Chevy Camro 6.2 V8 outboard engines. The first officer says they’re the largest outboards in the world, custom made for the yacht. “It sounds like a race car,” he said, when he gets the Intrepid up to 55 knots.
Top-of-the-Line Fish Tank. The 151-foot Sanlorenzo motoryacht Scorpion, which is a new build for 2015, has a fish tank in her sky lounge. The tank is digitally controlled from Italy to be sure there are no problems with oxygen or lighting even if crew on board are busy.
Italy, Italy and more Italy. The new 74-foot Sunreef sailing catamarans Blue Deer and 19th Hole, both owned within the same family, will charter this summer in Italy. At the Antigua show, Blue Deer had a massive half-wheel of Parmesan cheese aboard that was absolutely delicious.
She’s as Good as She Looks. The 185-foot Alloy sailing yacht Mondango 3 looks just as stunning in person as she has in all the photographs we’ve been seeing while she chartered over in the South Pacific and Southeast Asia. After her debut Caribbean season this winter, she will charter for summer 2016 in the Mediterranean.
Busy, Busy, Busy. The crew aboard the 124-foot Hakvoort motoryacht Perle Bleue say they did 15 weeks of charter last year. That’s one popular motoryacht! Perhaps it’s the lure of the top-deck teppanyaki grill, where the chef was serving delicious tuna bites during the Antigua show.
Elephant Lover. The just-launched, 138-foot Benetti motoryacht H is a study in contemporary interior decor with gray hues, stainless steel accents and a splash of safari chic. The owner, it turns out, is a huge fan of elephants.
Big-Screen Glory. The 164-foot Trinity motoryacht Amarula Sun, which formerly was known as Mine Games, just had a massive audiovisual upgrade that included not one, but two 75-inch 4K ultra-high-definition televisions.
Less Red, More Chic. The 160-foot Christensen motoryacht Odessa has a new owner who did an update on the Armani/Casa interior decor. Reds and grays are gone, replaced by some lighter fabrics that awaken the blacks already in the color scheme.
Best Chocolate Ever. The chef aboard the 107-foot Ocea motoryacht Paolyre is a gourmet hobbyist when it comes to chocolate. Ask for her version with chopped almonds. It’s to die for.
